I'm revising my book, Marathon, for republication next fall. In my opening chapter I mention Sy Mah as having run 524 marathons, but since that time Sy's record has been bettered. Can you help me with the name? (Hal Higdon, Michigan City, Indiana)

REPLY: It's Norm Frank from Rochester, New York. His count must be well past 600 by now, but I haven't heard from or about him in several years -- since writing about him in the 1995 book, Road Racers & Their Training. He said there that he planned to run his 600th at the '96 Boston Marathon.
