Worth a Visit

(Addressed to the Runner's World staff) I'm working on an RW article about "destination marathons" and want to know which ones entice you the most as far as planning a vacation around the actual event. Iım only including marathons in United States and Canada. (Eileen Portz-Shovlin, Emmaus, Pennsylvania)

REPLY: My list includes only the races I've run or spent lots of time observing. So it tilts entirely toward the west, where I live. I'm eager to see the overall voting that will appear in the magazine.
1. Royal Victoria (British Columbia)
2. Napa Valley (California)
3. Big Sur (California)
4. Avenue of the Giants, or Humboldt Redwoods (same basic course, in California)
5. San Francisco (California)
6. Honolulu (Hawaii).
7. Maui (Hawaii).
8. Vancouver (British Columbia).
9. Lake Tahoe (California)
10. San Diego (California)
