Warming/Cooling Pace

On your advice, I've started running one mile once a week, one minute faster than everyday pace. My question is, at what pace should you warm up and cool down?

I usually run a 10-minute mile, so I ran a nine-minute mile today. I tried to warm up and cool down at a 10-minute mile pace, but I had to slow WAY down right after the nine- minute mile.

REPLY: The mile beforehand is the important one, since it gets you ready for the test. Make sure it truly warms you up without tiring you, whatever its pace might be. You can simply walk or run/walk the cooldown if the faster mile has "blasted" you.
