This column really hit a sore spot with me -- that, is the boorish behavior of some runners. It is the main reason I quit participating in road races.

I think the worst behavior is at the finishing areas of marathons where runners take the refreshments and give them to their families and friends. Later finishers in the race receive nothing because of this. The volunteers can't be expected to be policemen also. (Marc Fifield, Indiana)
