Code of the Road (follow-up to 12/26)

I take exception to your comments on Baby Joggers. As a father of two small boys, I believe it is important for my kids to see me doing something competitive but healthy. As a veteran runner who knows the rules of the road, I make sure that I position myself appropriately at the starting line
so that I do not create a nuisance.

Your line, "Baby Joggers and leashed pets create hazards for the runners around you" is incorrect insofar as dogs have a mind of their own, whereas the Baby Jogger is controlled by a "rational" human being. I don't think the implied comparison is fair.

I guess what I am suggesting is that as a part of your "Code of the Road," provide context and exceptions, not absolutes. I would never enter a race with a running stroller unless I knew I was not a nuisance and, most importantly, if my son didn't truly enjoy the experience. (Brett Killeen)
