(commenting on January RW column) In regard to point six, "Carry out your own trash..." I have a trick that I use to make this easy. I carry my empty GU packet just until I am done drinking at the next aid station.

Then I put the packet in the bottom of the cup, fold the top over so the packet doesn't fall out, and let it drop. When the cup gets picked up, the packet goes along with it! That way I don't have to carry it until the end, and it doesn't end up left on the course. (Dave Bennett)
