What are your thoughts about the death of Dr. Primo Nebiolo [longtime president of the IAAF]? There is a lot of speculation here in Edmonton as to the ramifications upon the 2001 World Championships. (John McGee)

REPLY: Shocking. I thought he'd find a way to outlive us all.

He was a dictator who did much good (and some bad) for the sport. Because he ruled alone and groomed no successor, he leaves a power vacuum that could cause chaos for months or years to come.
